Townsend Talk: Jazzing It Up: The Savoy Club Madness
Celia Ipiotis, producer of the award-winning PBS series EYE ON DANCE, powers through the 1930’s jazz era defined by the high octane Lindy Hop. Floor shaking clips of the Lindy Hop dominate the conversation Ipiotis conducts on video with Frankie Manning, the legendary Lindy Hop dancer and choreographer. This exploration of jazz-era dance resonates especially at Raynham Hall through the story of Alice Delano Weekes, a professional concert and ballet dancer connected to the Townsend family and the Roosevelts.
