A Musical Celebration on Independence Day with Raynham Hall

Come be our guests at the new Education Center and re-imagined Museum. See historical figures come to life with our new augmented reality experience! The day begins at 12:00 with a free classical concert by the Oyster Bay Music Festival, followed by a Vegetable Orchestra in the Victorian Garden at 1:00, free tours, and ice cream and lemonade throughout the day.

Sunday, July 4 from 12-1p.m.

This program features all kinds of fun Americana instrumental and vocal music to celebrate the Fourth of July at Raynham Hall’s new education center located at 30 West Main Street, Oyster Bay. OBMF concerts feature gifted young musicians, who study at Juilliard, Yale School of Music, Eastman School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory, and Hofstra, among others. Often, more seasoned professionals will join in the fun for a performance or two. Audience favorites such as the Zandieh Trio from Oyster Bay, pianist Maxim Lando, winner of the prestigious Young Concert Artists Competition, and award-winning flutist Matthew Ross will return this season. New guests such as sitarist Rishab Sharma, the youngest and last disciple of Ravi Shankar, and soprano Emily Donato, will be sure to delight.

Vegetable Orchestra Demonstration
Saturday, July 4th from 1-3 p.m.

An outdoor “Vegetable Orchestra” concert and demonstration will take place in the Victorian garden between the museum and new education center. Professor Dale Stuckenbruck will demonstrate how to make musical instruments from local produce. Stuckenbruck, a Grammy-nominated violinist, is founding director of the Long Island Vegetable Orchestra, which was founded in 2011 at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. In the tradition of the Vienna Vegetable Orchestra, LIVO performs with freshly prepared instruments which may include a saxophone sound-alike, “cucumber phone,” pumpkin basses, carrot flutes, and eggplant for percussion.
